Role of women in our society

In the past women could not play any active role in our society. Their position in the family was very disgraceful. In our society a woman’s role was confined as a mother, wife and housemaker. In audition she would give birth to and bring up children. She was believed to be soft, weak, submissive and dependent on man for her care and protection. If a woman lacked these qualities, it was held that she lacked competency and efficiency. But today woman are playing a significant role in all spheres of life. They are no longer confined within the four walls of their parents or husbands house. They have come out of the kitchens and are working shoulder to shoulder with men in all the development programmes of the government. By receiving higher education they are becoming pilots, doctors, engineers, teachers, administration and so on. They have been able to prove their worth. They not only do their household works but also work outside of their house. They are contributing much to the economy of the nation. Now it has come to the realization of the men that true development of a country is never possible keeping half of the population idle at home. So it goes without saying that women are playing an important role in socio economic condition of our country. We should remember the famous saying of napoleon Give me an educated mother, I will give you an educated nation.
